The Inside Scoop All across North America, hotels have thousands of empty rooms available during the week. Most guests check in on Friday and Saturday, so frequently the hotels are actually losing money during the off-peak times. Until recently, there wasn't much that the hotel owners could do about the problem. They had to deal with both the loss of revenue and the loss of happy hotel guests that would hopefully return for another visit. Recently, however, many companies in the travel industry have begun to recognize the value of allowing guests to come visit during the week for practically nothing. If you think about it, it really makes sense for everyone. You get a great vacation in a luxury hotel, and they don't have to handle the problem of having excessive vacancies. Plus, they hope that you'll take advantage of their other services (restaurants, concierge, etc.) while you're staying in the room. If you like their property enough, they know you'll also probably recommend it to other travelers. It's a win-win situation!
